annoying unfunny nerds

Have you read the history of the movie? If not, I'll give you a brief rundown:

Chris Mancini sold his script to the production company After Dark Films. They decided to shoot it in Bulgaria. They sent a producer out there and gave him a free reign. What happened? The producer completely chucked the script and wrote an entirely different story. Only the title was the same as Chris' original script. The After Dark Films people see the movie and are horrified at how awful it is: the acting is terrible; the writing is below subpar; the fight sound effects sound like they are from Kung-Fu movies; the Bulgarian actors have a super thick accent, making it hard for them to sound genuine; and the story is so laughably absurd and nonsensical that it makes them want to cry.

After Dark Films panics. They have a deal with Lions Gate to distribute the film and they can't send them such a crappy film. So they call Chris Mancini in and tell him to turn it into a comedy. So he decides to turn it into a MST3K style comedy because that's all he can do with the remaining few thousand dollars of the original budget.

You may not have found the nerds doing the voice-over were funny. But from what I saw of the original movie, the original movie wasn't any better.
