Quality of production

I'm about a third of the way through the first episode shown on BBC4 last week. I'm so impressed by the quality of the production. It has the look, feel and sound of a cinematic film. The locations are amazing too.

Don't know if you've seen the original, which has an older Montalbano, played by another actor, and now includes 26 episodes, but it too has a definite cinematic quality and beautiful locations. If you enjoy Young Montalbano, you should equally enjoy Inspector Montalbano, which is the English title of the original series, Il commissario Montalbano.

I wasn't aware until reading so on this board. I see that this series is returning next week on BBC4. It doesn't suggest it's a repeat but I will watch with interest nevertheless. I've bought the first novel in the series from Camilleri and look forward to reading Montalbano in due course.

The whole production for TYM was beautifully shot.

I picked up all the novels which have been translated into English [except Il giovane Montalbano. I'll have to get that one soon] and, after reading each one, I'd go back and re-watch the adaptation. Overall, they're quite faithful, altho Montalbano is a bit more abrasive in the novels.
