So now we know...

That the last episode of season two is set over the days leading up to 23 May 1992.

So Montalbano's career in Vigatà is definitively set in time.

I knew nothing of this incident and, had it not been for your post here, I would've continued to assume the names of those killed where merely characters in a storyline. Thank you.

This was by far the best just for the final moments alone. This cast have grown on me as much as the originals.

Don't be late, don't hesitate, this dream can pass just as fast as lightning.

The series definitely improved for me. The end of the original series and I felt the storylines were pretty weak. This last one was particularly good with all the characters. I also got to like the new cast with the exception of Mimi, I couldn't really get you used to him. The original Mimi I really liked and there was a depth to his character which I felt was missing from the new one. I preferred the Livia in this one too.

...when, according to the books, Salvo is 42. He was born in 1950.

But then again, in the books Montalbano has a moustache, so maybe this doesn't count for much.
