2 beautiful women needing to pay a man for sex...?

I might have missed something, but did Stone's and Vergara's characters really need to pay a man for sex? Was that really what their plot was about? Was it ever explained why? I mean...if they wanted to have sex with someone, or even a threesome, I would think that they could do that easily for free, no...?

reply

First of, this is a fictional movie and not a documentary.

Secondly, it was explained. Stone's character wanted to get back at her husband. Later Vergara's character got in because she was pretty wild and wanted to try a threesome.

reply

Uh, yeah, I know. Generally fictional stories still have some measure of realism.

And your response still doesn't explain why they needed to PAY to do this.

reply

Dr. Parker (Sharon Stone) wants to get back at her husband and wants to stay in control. She's not looking for a new boyfriend. She's used to using money to control people.

reply

Again, there is usually no reason why a beautiful woman would need to pay to have a one night stand, a friends with benefits situation, a fake relationship, etc.

reply

Why does it *have* to be explained?

But, it's fairly commonly seen that if you pay for sex, then you are in control of where, and when, and limit the engagement to that transaction.

Sure, she could pull someone. Could she do it at precisely when she wants to? Where would it take place? Without being able to research the person, can you be sure there won't be complications?

reply

I guess they considered it easier and more discreet to use a professional...

reply

Thanks, that makes sense

This movie should have been nominated for every Razzie this year. I've watched it 3 times on DVD because I get such a morbid pleasure from how stupid and bad it is. I really think it's on par with The Room.

reply

Paying puts one in the power position, something both of these women enjoy.

reply

Speaking from a female point of view its uncomplicated sex, you have a really good time and if you can afford it way not? And why is it presumed that every beautiful woman can get men? Perhaps they are shy or don't want long relationships. Are you also assuming that all ugly men or plain women having trouble getting sex? Good looking men and women can be horrible or vacuous people.
And maybe also they are married but for reasons, like Sharon Stone's character, they have marriage problems. Maybe they are having awful sex at home or no sex at all.

reply

Some movies are not meant to be "food for thought", just purely for entertainment. No need to think and pick at the details, just sit back, relax.. and enjoy the show.

@ Alex_Askew

A beautiful woman may not always get the sexual pleasure that she deserves.
Many may want her but what they do between the sheets is another matter.
Surely you know this?

Now, in movies, a visual medium, it is far more aesthetically pleasing to see a story where the performers do not venture into the realm of 'embarrassing bodies', doncha think?

And since this is a comedy, I don't think you should take it too seriously.

Btw, John Turturro is probably one of those guys like Bogart, Seth Rogan or James Gandolfini that may not have chiselled model looks but def have something else that women go for...

reply

Okay, I am pretty sure you are a man asking questions like that or you just didn't get the movie.
It is not the sex that they looked for. It is the sensual, the feeling, the real good sex that all about the women sex.
Let's be realistic how many men in this earth know how to make a woman feel special, treasure with his touch... Men are *beep* and only a handful of them is actually good at it.
Cheers.

'something else that women go for'

Yeah, like being the director and star. I just sent my picture of the scene when Sofia is bent over for John's character. I put in the text, 'yeah, if we PAY Sofia, of course she'd do a sex scene with us'. Some men just have the resources to create a scene like this with Sofia and Sharon. I guess he couldn't afford Sofia and Salma Hayek, or Eva Mendes or J. Lopez...but it happens. The movie was pretty cool though, but soooo not believable. Why would two women who want a fantasy, get some run down possible grandpa? Get a man who fits the model. But maybe they just want the thrill and not the actual workout...lol oh, when one has disposable resources. I'm a bit jealous like the Jewish neighborhood guy. I know for a fact that I wouldn't have had a change of heart in the middle of bending over Ms. Vergara...those emotions can wait. And I still have some work to do on a Basic Instinct Sharon Stone who still has those same legs!
