Woody Allen is the only reason to watch this movie

The best part of this movie was the beginning when Woody Allen was trying to lure Turturro into the business. But unfortunately that part was over in like 15 minutes. After that, there were plenty of opportunities for funny situations to develop around the gigolo work, but the movie didn't even try to create any funny situations. Instead they developed this cheesy romantic thing between Turturro and Vanessa.

A movie doesn't need to be funny, if it is realistic or thrilling or artistic or has some other good qualities. This movie had none. Woody Allen was the only reason to watch this movie.

I wonder why Woody Allen's character didn't offer himself to do the job for Sharon Stone?

But it strikes me that Woody Allen is best in front of the camera, rather than behind.

I'm not saying he can't write, or can't direct, but Woody Allen's voice is best expressed through himself. Even saying someone else's words, you get more from him here than you usually get from him putting words into the mouths of other people.
