The cliche right wing whacko

C'mon man, if you need to have a Pabst drinkin, gun toten' trailer park white trash wannabe to portray as the cliche right wing whack job waiting in his front yard with a shotgun for them durn aliens, at least do your homework.

First, the guy was wearing an 82nd Airborne ball cap, fair enough, but then he pulls out his dress uniform, which is that of a navy rear admiral. You don't attain admiralty by being stupid, and retired admirals don't live in run down trailers making love to their guns.

And why must every single alien invasion involve white trash with guns, and why are they always ex-military?

This is Nick Sagan's show, a guy who's never served in the military. I don't hold that against people in general, but it does sort of rub me the wrong way when TV and movies are constantly misrepresenting veterans as a bunch of toothless morons looking for something to kill.

reply

Never trust a Sagan, EVER.

But that former sailor was portrayed as none of those things.

Don't say that you love me!
Just tell me that you want me!

Those people are actively pumping that cliché out themselves. Watch any thing on Animal Planet, Discovery, TLC, and A&E. There are about three shows about bunkers, and about 5 about guns.

reply

But, such people DO exist.
