Grandson's Birthday Celebration

by you
Unbelievable! Bobby is so Obviously trying to upstage Nicky by buying his son a "better" car on his Birthday when the Celebration was Clearly more than a typical birthday; it was Nicky's son's 16th, which marks a rite of manhood in their culture, and comes with clear expectations, one that Nicky sweated over trying to do right by his son. It was an insult and a slap in his brother's face! Bobby isn't fooling anyone with his faked shocked attitude, and trying to sidestep the blame by saying Nicky was to blame for his insecurity when Bobby is clearly very competitive and isn't simply happy with feeeling better than others, he wants others to feel Beneath Him - you could SEE IT on his face, which is Not an admirable quality in Anyone - and particularly Not Between Brothers!
The Grandmother was Wrong for combining the Birthday celebrations in the first place! She, being as traditional as she claims to be, would know she wasn't just combining "any" two birthday's; she set the whole thing up, and Bobby took full advantage of the opportunity to disrespect his brother! As Nicky said: he'll never get that moment back.
Shame on them both! They Knew Better, and it's now going to start a wedge of resentment between the grandson's - one that Didn't have to happen at all if not for the juvenile antics of a father and a grandmother! As usual, in dysfunctional families, it is always the kids who suffer!
