So... erm... this show didn't have an ending SPOILERS

That was it then?

No resolution of the Jonjo Heinze story thread, or even the case involving the murder of his friend as well as the sub-cases involving his revenge killings- you know, those tiny aspects that were the entire driving aspects of the plot?

Not even any proper address of Rocksavage's relationship of the situation with his ex-girlfriend and daughter? One meeting where he said he was wanted to be a family with them, and then that's it?

Not even any resolution of his affair with his father's nurse?

Just a one-episode plot detour that suddenly morphed into an ending for the show? I know people will say it's relevant because it was like the coming full-circle of his vigilante behaviour, but that doesn't explain the fact that this show just ditched it's entire 4-episode plot and essentially just told us to deal with it.

I had hoped the show was building towards some extravagant ending which would tie it all together well, and instead there was just... nothing. Not even limping at the finish line, more like it had broken down and expired several miles before the finish line even got into sight. Insulting to the intelligence of it's viewers that it could pass that 60 minutes of nothing off as an ending. An ending has to in some way "end" a story. Even if this was meant to be an open ending into a new series it still failed completely as a satisfactory climax to this current one.

Spot on that. After waiting weeks for the final episode, it was a complete anti-climax. Had the makings of being a top drama that could - and should - have gone on for a few more weeks.

I thought this show was going to go on for at least 2 to 4 more episodes. I know that the BBC doesn't have shows last 13 episodes like the US does, but this show deserved at least 6 episodes although I would prefer a solid 8 to wrap everything up. If it comes back...it should come back quick for another 4 episodes before people forget about the show. This was not a proper end to such a good show.

It needed at least one more episode to answer most of the questions left after Episode 4. Probably more than one episode because it would have been far too rushed. Also does anyone know if this show was even planning to follow up on a second series?

Some people have completely missed the point of this story. I've only just watched it, and it's as plain as day that it's a tale of one young man's self-destruction. The young policeman's uncontrollable plunge to destruction (whether that ends in suicide or something else) leads inevitably to loose ends in what used to be his life. Ask any suicide counsellor. There's no room here for a follow-up series; I hope a second is not made, for it could defeat the purpose of the first. Perhaps those who are dissatisfied by what they regard as a non-ending should stick to less demanding, tie-it-all-up drama of the kind which usually dominates our screens. I notice there has been a tongue-in-cheek suggestion that Dick Wolf should get his hands on this story. At least I hope it was tongue in cheek, otherwise we'd have the story itself self-destructing. This series is one of the most realistic and gripping shows I've seen in 60 years of TV.
