Why? (same language) or is it because it may be hard for Americans to understand the Liverpool accent.

i'd bet so, likely a small part of it. suits often get behind remakes with no regard for the original if it didn't appear on a primarily American network. even if we get BBC America there's enough people who don't watch it for a whatever reasons, along with being able to control series promotion, to warrant a remake.

I can see the closing scene now...American flag in background, the two protagonists walk down the precinct station steps, pause at the bottom to exchange satisfied banter about a job well done (no loose ends), and pat each other on the shoulder before one sets off across the street and the camera pulls back to watch the other heading into the distance along the footpath. Or won't it be as good as that?
