2nd series

will this fantastic show get a second series?

If it does, it either needs to be half as long, or twice as involved.

I hope so. I've really enjoyed it but it left us all hanging in the air. We want to know what happens next !!!!!

Just watched the last episode on sky+
What brilliant performances - well worth waiting for!

Well, the BBC are keeping quiet - but perhaps that's all designed to add to the suspense !! ?? !!

reply

The ratings were good enough for one.

I hope so and I think there might. Luther got a second series and this is ina similar style and seems to be as popular. It was a great 4 parter and I think they could bring it back and carry on where it left off- like Mad Dogs.

Have to say I registered the similarities with the ending of Luther too! Is he / is he not going to get charged (v. similar good person / good cop dichotomy)? duh duh duhhhhhh. Really hope that it does get a second series. Warren's performance was nothing short of phenomenal and really great support from his father and his father's carer. Great stuff

I sure hope there is.

reply

I hope so because that was a terrible ending

reply

Agreed, I watched all 4 episodes then looked for a 5th, how can you end a 4 part series with nothing resolved?

reply

Because the commercial pressures of modern television insist that the door always has to be left open for a possible second season, had the ending wrapped everything up it would have left little room for further development. Having said that there is closure of sort as he was forced to face the consequences of his vigilante ways, real life is seldom neat so there's little reason why drama shouldn't reflect this.

I don't think the ending was a terrible ending, but unsatisfactory.
Real life may not be neat, but this is drama. For me open endings are always a cop-out (unless there will be more), because it seems the writers could simply not come up with an ending.
Too many questions left unanswered.

Sounds cliché but my friends friend did the sound for this series and has confirmed there will be a 2nd :-)

Looking forward to it already as 1st series was AMAZING!

reply

Unfortunately I just saw that Warren Brown confirmed there will not be a second series. Don't know the reasons.

reply

Much though I loved series 1, I think that's the right decision. The crux of the story was one man's disintegration and from that point of view it ended perfectly. As for loose ends, real life is full of them!

reply

Poor ratings were the reason why this was axed.

Its that man again!!

reply

No, unfortunately - been too long now (easy to say with hindsight!).

A shame, but have to agree, a bit like "The Missing", not everything ends with a neat ending (or satisfactory) - it seems like those sort of endings are becoming more 'en vogue' - which I think is a good thing, as more real.

I enjoyed the principled Rocksavage (and his Dad - even if minus his 'rabbit coat'!).

i knew there wasnt a season 2, but didnt assumed the show had no ending :( argh, im so pissed right now.
