SO FAKE!!

Damn. Why can't anything be real in REALITY shows? I keep trying them out, and they keep disappointing. The girl with the fly fishing reel was suspicious, but THEN the wife at the motor cycle dealer was the final straw!! Oh well. . . .

reply

Yea the girl with the fishing rod was really bad. And then like you said, the wife at the motorcycle dealer was even more obvious. Really sucks too because they didn't need to do stuff like that. It was a watchable show before all this, now it's just too obvious.

reply

It is the first time I watched this show, and I couldn't believe how fake it was. They just totally changed their minds just like that? It was way too scripted.

reply

Yeah, agreed. The first two episodes looked genuine with real people. The rest are all obviously scripted.

reply

I liked the guy who traded a 8k motorcycle for a $ 700 gun and the guy who traded a $7500 ring for what was said to be a thousand dollar album.

reply

Ditto. I've only watched two episodes and they were the same two with the outraged reel girl and wife. Came here to see what others had said or post the exact same thing you did.

reply

I've seen about 4 episodes of this show. This is by far the most obviously fake reality show I've seen so far. The other people involved in the trades give up WAY too easily. And fall for the worst arguments for making a horrible trade. Arguments like "yeah, but we're already here. I say we make this trade." And the person agrees.

I think there must be a competition to see who can come up with the most blatantly fake reality show before viewers stop watching.

reply

Ha. I agree. That would be fun. ALSO, I still can't get over the newest expression in our world: FAKE REALITY! What about a REAL reality show or is life that uninteresting. . .

reply

The problem is when ever people know they're on camera, they don't act the way they would off camera. The show would have to be done without the people knowing they were on camera in the first place. And you'd only get one episode out of it, since people have to legally agree to have their face shown on tv. After the first episode, they won't act naturally anymore because they'll know they're on camera.

And yes, for the most part, real life is uninteresting 99% of the time. That's why reality shows are edited. They only show the interesting stuff.

reply

Exactly, the presence of the camera changes everything. Besides, I'm almost certain that the trades are conducted before hand and then recreated and exaggerated for the camera.

The only way you can have a true reality show is to have hidden cameras, so that no one knows the cameras are there. But even then, you have to get permission after the fact to show faces.
