Above average film - well worth watching

"Gutshot Straight" is above average movie making from all aspects. George Eads plays a gambler who just entered into a scene that will forever change his life, in visiting a great bad guy played by Stephen Lang. You may think you have it all figured out, and in a lot of instances you will be correct, but still this was an enjoyable film that was made in Vegas. It's not everyday that Steven Seagal plays a small time bad guy, but he does a fine job here - no karate chops present. The rest of the cast, most no-names all did a really fine job, from AnnaLynne McCord as the wife of the bad guy, Ted Levine as another heavy, and Vinnie Jones as the usual tough guy. Tia Carrere is seen briefly in one scene. If you like action with threats from powerful bad guys aimed at a character who is clearly in over his head, then check this out. I think you will be surprised by this as I was. A solid *** out of 4 stars.
