Really liked this movie,.until.....

I really liked this movie,...until..the reveal. Loved the character study, cast was great, script was also good, cinematography looked great,.. it was bleak and foreboding, (lots of congo blue)LOL, it was even well directed. But right at the end, a really really horrible CGI creature, which should have been done with practical effects. And then they used the same roaring gag over and over and over, it looked like crap, it was like they gave up. WHAT HAPPENED?? Like other comments on this message board,..I really big missed opportunity, almost to the point of unforgivable.

Did you guys lose the last 5 pages of the script ??

They might have run out of budget towards the end.

They did have a small budget, but the DVD extras showed that much of the creature was practical. It was just the full body shots that weren't.

Unfortunately, practical effects are not practical anymore. It's MUCH cheaper to have an animation intern CGI a creature than to hire a Rick Smith or a Rob Bottin with their 6-person crew to design and create your creature. Especially when your creature is only seen for six seconds.

Agree completely. The lizard man-thingie looked not scary at all. It's laughable. Like straight out of a 90s fantasy video game. CGI or not, it's very bad creature design. God I can't stress how much I liked the film before its ending and how much I hate that creature design.

Almost like the director hired his five-year-old nephew and said "Timmy, draw a scary monster for me!" And Timmy just drew a lizard man. God it's awful.

Well a lot of things people call monsters aren't that scary looking at all. its what they the monsters do that makes them scary.
