Really dumb moment

This is a decent, entertaining movie but one moment stuck out like a sore thumb to me in stupidity. The part just after Spiderman saves his crush from falling to her death on the lift and is hanging upside down fully suited up in a still unsafe, about-to-fall-at-any-moment lift, only to then be told to kiss his crush by his suit, had me cringing so bad.

Not only is it weirdly random for his spider suit to be giving him relationship advice, but it couldn't have been a dumber time to do it when the lift is about to fall, when he is hanging upside and keeping said lift up, and there is a significant gap between the pair, meaning she'd probably have to lean in and risk her skull being crushed any moment. For some reason his 'intelligent' suit seemed to disregard all of that while it turned into Dr Phil.

The alien symbiote in Venom (2018) gave Eddie Brock relationship advice, too. Maybe Venom and the Spider suit can open some sort of relationship therapy business together.

I just took it as a reference to the 2002 Spiderman upside down kiss. It was an awkward moment because the relationship between this Spiderman and the girl weren't at that stage yet and all the dangling as you explained. But I definitely got 'call back' vibes there.

Yep - Tobey and Kirsten flashback.

I did laugh at the end of that scene tho when SM is pulled into the elevator shaft, they all move away, but the teacher says a half-hearted 'Thanks'
Like no-one really cared if he was OK or not.

Yea that was a plot hole for sure
