What Exactly Can Kill Any Of The Avengers???

I liked this movie, it wasn't bad for yet another reboot of Spider-man, but I'm just curious, what can kill any of these Marvel Superheroes? In this film a building falls square on Spider-man and he's just stuck for a few minutes until he lifts the building off himself. In The Avengers movies, even when they fight each other, they knock each other through buildings, airplanes, and trees, and they are perfectly fine all the time. To me it gets a little dull watching invincible superheroes who can't be killed and very rarely injured. I guess that's why I like Batman. Maybe I'm just not as big of a superhero fan as I thought I was. I know Stark is human, but in the suit he's untouchable too. I enjoy the Marvel movies, though the genre is getting a little overplayed at this point, but I just don't find a lot of suspense in these movies because in all of the big fight scenes I know everyone is going to be just fine except for all of the leveled cities. Hulk, Thor, Captain, Iron Man, Spider-man...unhurtable. Give me some suspense. They are well made movies though overall.

I'm pretty sure if Tony Stark got shot or stabbed, he would need medical attention.

reply

Yeah, I mentioned that, but in the suit he's untouchable I believe I said. I honestly want to know what can kill any of these guys, besides if Tony Stark was out of his suit and got stabbed or shot, haha.

Political Correctness

Yeah, I guess political correctness can kill pretty much anything. You've got me there. Lol.

The big bad Thanos from the upcoming Avengers movies can, and I assume several other Marvel villains. The problem is, killing superheroes in a movie is a big no. It can happen *cough Wolverine cough* and as a matter of fact it did happen to the MCU’s Quicksilver. [Granted we hardly knew him but I would say he counts.] Some of the major Avengers getting killed off in Avengers Infinity War is also a strong possibility.... just don’t expect it to be Hulk since being ”unharmable” is his thing.

Anyhow, chances are you’ll always see them return in a sequel or future reboot. The reason is, most fans cherish these characters and would rather see them succeed over anything else. So I suppose you do have to be a bigger fan of superheroes in order to appreciate this. I never anticipated any of the heroes to get killed off (X-Men series has become more unpredictable though), yet it doesn’t automatically make their showdowns with their enemies less exciting to watch. And, sure, few of them have been badly beaten, but... Iron Man, Captain America, War Machine, and even Spidey himself haven’t left a battle unscathed. Thor in his latest movie, for example, was left in a not-so pretty shape; what happened to him was a surprise.

All in all, Marvel keeps things fresh.

I understand the concept of not wanting to kill off superheroes, and it is completely understandable, but I enjoy films where I know there is a possibility of some damage being done to the main characters just to keep it exciting. I also want them to succeed, but I like a main character to go through hell, so it feels like more of an accomplishment when they do come out on top. It heightens the narrative in my opinion. When characters have no weaknesses sadly I almost root against them sometimes. Watching them throw each other through buildings over and over for half a movie like "Man of Steel" or "Avengers" and watching it not even make a dent to anybody just doesn't affect me much. Sure, it looks cool, but oh well. Maybe it's just a sign of me getting older, haha.

Logan was amazing to me, by the way. Incredible movie! I haven't seen the most recent Thor movie.

Infinity War has me excited for the possibility of some major characters biting the dust, nothing is off the table, and that makes it more exciting for me, even if they appear or are brought back to life in the next movie. That was one thing in my opinion Batman Vs. Superman did well, as I was expecting everything to turn out fine, and then that ending happened. Even though you knew it wasn't going to last more than one movie, it still took me off guard and made me care.

Except Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises I can't think of a single Batman movie where Batman gets hurt.

In Batman and Robin Batman got hit in the nipples

Well, in the Michael Keaton/Jack Nicholson 1989 Batman, The Joker shoots his plane down, and then he gets out, bloodied face and all, and walks up the cathedral stairs, only to get absolutely pummeled by one of The Joker's henchman before the final showdown with The Joker. In Batman Returns they went a different route, with Batman's reputation being ruined and having him being cast as the villain by The Penguin, but even still, Catwoman slashes his face and Max Shrek shoots him. I won't mention the Schumacher disasters, but as for Batman Begins, he gets gassed by The Scarecrow and nearly dies, with only Lucius Fox able to come up with an antidote to save him, and a giant burning piece of wood falls on him in the Wayne Manor fire set by the League of Shadows. I actually think he gets hurt more in Batman Begins than The Dark Knight with the exception of the ending of The Dark Knight, but those stories were so incredible it put him in more than just physical peril. Those movies went pretty deep.

Since my last reply I have actually read some old Silver Age Iron Man comics where Iron Man gets severally injured. The only problem is one of the villains who injured him pretty badly is The Black Knight who hasn't been done in a movie yet. And the other is Attuma who belongs with the Submariner film rights rights away from Marvel. So yeah. Can't do those stories now.

Ever noticed that it's only the superhuman Avengers that thrown down and throw each other through houses and so on? Yeah, and Tony of course be he has his suit. You never see Hawkeye dealing fisticuffs to Hulk or Tony uppercutting Bruce Banner.

watch "the gifted" and you got your answer in regards to all of the x-men. also sentinels, more powerful mutans ...etc

Superman could probably kill of these characters... but there's the whole kryptonite thing and him being owned by another corporation 😂

Anyway, we're all overthinking this stuff... it's light fun to sell toys... that's all... there are human bystanders and girlfriends to get a sense of peril and such...
