Why does this get lots of flack?

I have been watching it on Netflix and I am enjoying it quite a bit. Is it just die-hard MMO fans that have a problem with it? I mean I like MMOs but play casually and am not at all hardcore.

Because it is just stupid. Now let me explain, when doctors watch medical drama they laught at its stupidities, but since very few people are doctors it does not impact the experience of most people, however since most people at least tried playing MMO's at some point they see how stupid this series is.
No classes, no roles, no need for party playing, single player taking down bosses, no level cap, it shows that maker of this manga knows nothing about his own setting.

And let's not forget the fact, that this is basicly harem anime, every girl instantly falls in love with our hero who is so illogically overpowered that compared to him Ichigo Kurosaki and Goku are well rounded and developed characters. This series is like cheap power fantasy of author, and our hero is never in danger, is never afraid, he is the biggest gary stu to ever walk the face of the earth

Except it isnt a "harem" series since the main character doesnt gather a bunch of girls to his sides and of those he meets other than Ausuna they tend to be people hes helping and is not trying to date and then moves on.

I have played MMOs for 11 years, so i think i qualify in knowing how MMOs work and i LOVED it. There were classes and roles, they even spell it out, Kirito was a swordsman, Asuna was a Berserker, there were plenty others, even crafting ones like the blacksmith. We even had a tamer.

Pretty much everything in the anime that involved big fight was party effort and not a single boss in the game was taken down solo. so what the *beep* are you on about? In the second season they even make it a big deal how a party of 7 have never before taken down a boss alone and they were the first to ever do it.

Level caps are stupid and MMOs that have level caps can go get raped with a sharp pole.

Actually most girls hate the hero at first but ends up falling for him evnetually. Except those that arent, but lets ignore what you doesnt fall into your message. I think the character developement of Kirito was better than that of Goku. Goku actually ends up boring if you binge-watch Dragonball, ASO doesnt.

Ah yes, Kirito is never in danger other than all those times he almost died in real life, including being attacked outside of the hospital with a knife by a crazed lunatic.
