Possibly one of the best crime series I've ever seen

It was pretty damn good.
I was gonna pass up the 2nd season. A season about a trial seemed boring. Watched 2 episodes and binged the hell out of them.

I thought so too, until I saw Happy Valley. There are all great, well written British crime dramas with great actors:

Happy Valley (#1 best imo)
Broadchurch
Collateral
Shetland (beautiful setting. Accents are heavy, use cc)
Unforgotten

Anyone know of more like these? My all time favorite crime series is The Wire. It’s a huge ensemble cast with intricate, interwoven plots. Authentic characters played by brilliant character actors. It’s has themes which develop across five seasons. Masterpiece.

I agree with the Happy Valley rating. I'll have to try the last three on your list, haven't checked them out yet. I also like Line of Duty and Luther. Prime Suspect is good, though a bit dated. Fortitude, kind of a different genre, is great. So is Top of the Lake, set in New Zealand.

I watched Prime Suspect. Excellent series, especially the first season. Will try Line of Duty and Luther. That’s Idris Elba, right? Been a fan of his since The Wire.

Me too. The Wire was stellar.

I really loved The Fall.
