Does New Game delete an old one?

Hi,
Anyone know if I start a New Game, while my son is playing one, whether he has the option to return to where he was in his game afterwards?

starting a new game resets everything except whats found in the "extra" section on the opening screen i.e. concept art, character bios, etc

FEAR is for the enemy FEAR and BULLETS

Thanks. Is that even if I create a profile? The manual seems to say that creating a profile allows me to save the game.
