New season premier tonight.....Abbey

So any thoughts on this first show of the season? Sorry but Abbey was the character I liked the least along with the 2 kids. Sad but true. Love this show. Love Terry and Bunchie and Mickie and even Teresa.
Its going to be a great season with Susan Sarandon in the mix.

I liked Abbey..She was sometimes rude and crude and politically incorrect but she was a unique character with a lot of heart..No matter what Ray did, she still loved him and accepted him. She was one in a million and I'm going to miss her and the glue and grounding she gave all the other characters.
The thing is...Ray's been with other people constantly so it's not something I crave to see. I really preferred that part of his life settled..You knew he was never leaving Abbey and now Ray hooking up romantically with someone else is just not appealing..

I see your point. The problem I had with Abbey was her voice and her constant nagging. In a way I felt the writers were trying to copy Tony Soprano and his wife Carmela. Same situation with the cheating etc. But Carmela was a force and Abbey was just irritating (to me anyway).. I know alot of fans liked her, but they are taking a darker turn this season. I doubt Ray will love again..He might have alot of hook ups, but not love.

Paula Malcolmson nails the role of an Irish-Amercan woman who was born and raised in South Boston (Southie), the most Irish of Boston's neighborhoods, stone cold. Her voice and mannerisms are perfect in that respect. If her character's ways annoy you, flowers, I respect that; but I hope that you respect that she is a fine actress who is being true to her art. If you visit Beantown, you should probably keep Southie off your itinerary😁

She was in Sons of Anarchy,,,one of my favorite series,,, so yes, I respect her as an actor very much. She did nail this role too,,,but yes, she did annoy me. Still, though, she is very credible in her performance.
I also loved Boston when I visited.. Just 3 hours away from me.

I agree, I wasn't a fan of Abbey either, she just seemed miserable all the time... but then I guess, most of the characters do on this show.

Well now she is all fairy dust and loving and so is Ray in the flashbacks..A bit of a turnaround on both characters, but I love the show and like the human side of the story.
