Has episode 8 a cancer arc?

I'm in the UK and we're at episode 7. Episode 8 is next Monday. I'm very uncomfortable with the cancer arc for personal reason being myself sick and episode 6 was awful for me.
Episode 7 was great.
Could you let me know if the cancer arc is back in episode 8 and if so when so I can fast forward the scene(s). Thanks a lot.

I'm sorry to hear that. The only part I recall with it even being mentioned is after Conor finishes a clip at a shooting range with Abby. After she compliments his skills, she tells Conor her diagnosis but not even the type. It's very vague. No doctor's offices or women with mastectomies or Abby's proclamations for treatment this episode.

Thanks a lot Katiedidd!

I saw the episode today and it was fine. Could you spoil me for the following episode? I'm sorry to bother you but you're the only one who answered me. Many, many thanks!

No bother at all. The newest episode, "Goodbye Beautiful" features no cancer plot and has even less discussion than the last. About 22 minutes in, Sonia and Abby are sitting at the Donovan dining-room table, and Sonia apoligizes to Abby for her diagnosis and reveals she has stage IV. It's the only part in the entire episode, I'm quite sure. There are definitely no scenes like the earliest episodes this season.

Thanks a lot again! You're really helpful, I do appreciate.

It was too *beep* depressing. It seems they are done with that storyline. Hopefully.

If I don't reply, you're probably on my ignore list for something I forgot already

reply

I really hope so but I'm sure they'll come back to it at the end with Abby's cancer having spread as her current treatment is useless.

I also think this arc will continue. It's too big of a thing to not get real attention in the future, especially since each week references it in some way (even when it is not the focus).

It looks like I am sticking with this series for the long haul, so I'll try to give a head's up for each week's episode. If I ever forget, do not hesitate to ask.

Episode 10 doesn't feature this plot either. For a moment, I thought it may; 12 minutes in, Abby's doctor's office calls, but she basically tells them, "that won't be nevessary" and the like. We can't hear the other end of the phone call, but Abby basically turns them down. The word "cancer" is only mentioned once, when Abby and Mickey are talking once, but it is not discussed,

This is probably the least discussed in weeks. I can let you know about the final two episodes of the season when they air.

Thanks a lot for the update, that's lovely from you. I'll see this episode next Monday. I'm afraid Abby's cancer is going to come back for the finale.

Hello Katie,

I'm sorry to bother you again. I just saw episode 10 last night. I guess Abbie won't have time to go back to the doctor this season! I'm sure her cancer has spread but she's more likely to die by a bullet from the Russians now.

Nevertheless if you can spoil me episode 11, it would be lovely.

Many, many thanks!

I just saw that you had a break in the US but we don't have it in the UK. It means that I will see episode 11 and 12 less than 24 hours after the US.

Thanks for your help since episode 8 :-)

Oh, so next week they'll just go ahead and play episode 11 within the day of ours and then the same for the next week for the season finale? I plan on watching the episodes when they air, so I'll be sure to come back here and give an update right after each episode.

I do wonder what will happen with Abby this season. Will it feature her illness at all or wait to accelerate it in season 5? If they keep it realistic, she probably won't fall ill this season from metastasis (I'm just guessing since she had carcinoma in situ not long ago), but she keeps delaying treatment, it will happen eventually. Or, as you said... maybe a demise from the Russians,..

The penultimate episode for season four ("Chinese Algebra): Just a few minutes in, Abby exchanges a few sentences with Ray about her illness, but it was basically as detailed as the past few weeks.

That was it. Based on what she said, I feel like more has to happen next week, but maybe it will just be more dialogue. I'll let you know! :)

I felt a little "in and out of it" tonight, but think I got the gist of this episode.

For what feels like, the 58th time in a row, (lol), no cancer arc of which to speak this episode; just the same as I've been reporting before. About 16 minutes in, Abby is lying in bed, Ray comes home, and Abby has "good news" to share regarding her latest test results. She tells Ray what she had feared previously, but it's just good news to report now; the best possible, in fact.

That's how the season ended with this arc. If you post here next season, I'll come back and let you know how season five unfolds. I plan on watching this show until the (bitter?) end. I am in it for thee long-haul!

I sense Abby's health issues will return in the future because the storyline would have been essentially a red herring if left as is. (It did virtually nothing for the characters or plot if ignored now.) While a throwaway plot doesn't shock me for what has become of this show, I just don't think this will be left alone, so we may be posting about it again.

I'm not even entirely sure Abby was telling the truth over her favorable test results. She spoke sincerely but not exactly like a survivor, well-versed in her own disease. Then again, this is a woman who says proudly how her daughter got into "NY-fûcking-U" college, so it's not like I should be suspicious solely because of her vernacular. (I'm more suspicious that it's not finished because it did end up being a significant plot line earlier this season.)

Any more Qs during the hiatus, feel free to ask, and I hope all is well for you.

Add:[ Long post for a one Q.! I'd blame it on "season finale fever," but verboseness is already so me. 
