Ted Cruz just posed an interesting question (which CBS of course kept off the air), how would all the radical liberals that have no problem with things like this have reacted if the Bush admin. had deliberately targeted people like Michael Moore, Sean Penn, George Clooney, etc...?
Of course, the Bush admin. didn't, no other admin. in history has unlawfully targeted Americans that they just simply didn't like as the Obama admin. as.

The IRS targeted plenty of left-leaning groups like the Sierra Club, Greenpeace, anti Iraq War groups and NAACP when GWB was President. The Patriot Act started under GWB/Cheney.

Yes, they have. I was just going to mention that they want their representatives in newsrooms to "observe" what newscasters are going to put on the air, but someone beat me to it.
And they targeted FAR more conservative groups than liberal ones, that's not even remotely debatable.

You're doing the same when you know that the reason for targeting "FAR more conservative groups than liberal ones" would be that FAR more conservative groups would be FAR more likely to apply for tax-exempt status than any other "group." share
The IRS specifically admitted to targeting conservative groups...which just so happen to be the political opponents of the seated president right before a major election...
Hardly the norm just because more conservative groups than liberal ones are likely for such treatment.

They were targeting groups on a political basis, not a religious one.
According to Obama he was "outraged" by the specific targeting of groups because they were conservative.
He was obviously lying, but that's what he said.
If no corruption had been involved in the targeting, wouldn't have been any call for outrage, now would there...
Anyone denying the blatant corruption involved in this situation is either dishonest or ignorant (and of course, you'd need to be atleast one of those two to still be supporting/defending Obama).

Just wikipedia the IRS controversy (it's not a scandal) and you'll see that "the only tax-exempt status denial by the IRS involved the revocation of a previously granted tax-exempt status for a progressive group."
You're falling into their trap by finding fault with only one party or one side of the equation. They're all in it together; it's political theatre to throw you off the real problems with any and all administrations.
Both parties are extremely corrupt, there's no question about that (and I'm not a republican, I hate both parties too much to join either)...doesn't change the fact that obama weaponized the IRS against his political opponents in the general public.
Special scrutiny was placed on conservative political groups, there's no way around that.
And that line from wikipedia is based upon an 'investigation' conducted by the likes of Eric Holder, btw...hardly the least bit reliable, not to mention the fact that you conveniently failed to mention this "Further investigation revealed that liberal-leaning groups and the Occupy movement had also triggered additional scrutiny, but not at nearly the same rate as conservative groups"

There's illegal fundraising all over the place in politics, there's been more questionable at best financing for obama than any candidate in history, I'm pretty sure that doesn't bother the people jumping up and down celebrating any time a charge is made against one of obama's political opponents though.
