I’ll admit I don’t know much about football.

I’ll admit I don’t know much about football.

But just from watching it on TV (and in this movie) it doesn't look like an activity that benefits long term health. Many of the players were clearly above (way above) their ideal weight. I’ve read that many high school players suffer career ending injuries. I’ve read that many former pro players suffer from health issues that are a direct result of their time on the field.

If you really care about the health and well being of young people why encourage them to play? If you base your morality on the bible (and I’m not saying that’s a bad thing) why is football necessary to become upstanding citizens?

Jeez-us. You really didn't need to say you don't know anything about football because that is obvious in your post.

Also, your post is yet another example of the wussfication of our youth, especially boys.

High School football does not cause long term health issues, at least not for 99% of the kids that play. Sure, freak accidents happen but those happen just as much in high school basketball and baseball as football. it's always a treat To see someone comment on something that they admittedly have no clue about.

And where do you get that to be an upstanding citizen you have to play football?? Who the hell said that?

Um, wussification? Really? Just because he's questioning a point in society does not make him a wuss at all, and the fact that he's questioning whether or not people are getting injured in football is a valid insight he's making, quite intelligent actually. So there's nothing wrong with that.

Also he said he doesn't know anything bout it, why bash him further, does it make you feel bigger? O_o I don't see how.

Ands for the main subject, @OP yeah football could cause long term health issues, but so can a bajillion other things like common things: junk food and second hand smoke ingestion are two things off of the top of my head + other sports too as mentioned.

Who called the OP a wuss? Not me. At least read the post you're commenting on.

Is that why they're coming out with new helmets to try and minimize the damage of head trauma, or why schools have concussion clinics? You would think we could find another sport for kids to play that doesn't have them violently slamming into each other constantly, but I guess there's no accounting for stupid ...
