Uri Geller

Seems unfair / underhanded to alter Uri's props with, (gasp!) rubber cement! I'm surprised Johnny allowed this.

How is it unfair? Uri Geller claimed to do it by means that would not be affected by such alterations.

Carson himself was a magician in his early days and believed in Randi's quest to expose frauds. I think people are missing the point that Uri never claimed to be an entertainer, unlike magicians and other illusionists. He manipulated people into making them believe he had real psychic powers. I thought it was hilarious!

Uri Geller maintains to this day that what he does is genuine psychic ability and not any kind of magic trick. If he truly is picking up a psychic impression from the correct container, the fact that the containers have a coating on the bottom should be truly immaterial. If he's a magician, he should be up front about that.

Besides that, I noticed during the clips they showed that Randi's stated suggestion doesn't match exactly to what Carson arranged. When Geller does the trick with the film containers in the lab footage, he's got them all arranged in a little box with room to move around - that gel with what Randi suggested, gimmicking them so they don't slide around. However, in the Carson clip, the containers are simply arranged in front of Geller on a table - no box, no way to discretely make them slide around. No doubt done based on Randi's suggestion, but clearly not Randi's suggested method.

I thought the same thing when he kept saying he was the real deal, a psychic. If so, then why wasn't he able to perform the 'trick.'

I noticed that too. I wondered why he wasn't trying to turn the table to learn which film container had the lead in it. Strange.
