Copy of Hindi Movie Kuch To Gadbad Hai (2004)

Carry on Jatta is a copy of a less Known Hindi movie Kuch To Gadbad Hai (2004) starring Annu Kapoor, Sushant Singh, Ayesha Jhulka etc. Even director's previous venture Chakk De Phatte was a copy of Deewane Huye Paagal (2005) starring Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapur, Sunil Shetty, Rimi etc. The director Smeep Kang is just another copycat director like others who remake English, South movies etc to fool audience & make a large sum of money at BO.

Maybe so as I have not seen the original movie. The story was nothing to speak of as many movies in bollywood have such theme but I am pretty damn sure that no movie can match the dialogues of "Carry on Jatta"... It has become my all time favorite Punjabi movie just because of the dialogues....

reply

@imarshad I agree with u.. but, not only the story but some scenes r taken from "Kuch To Gadbad Hai"..i suggested my elder sis to watch KTGH, she also said that COJ was a copy of KTGH.. the only thing i liked about "Carry On Jatta" was the chemistry between Binnu Dhillon & Jaspinder Bhalla.

Sorry to interupt bro, but i watched kucch to gadbad hai movie in my college days... and believe me it was one of the worse comedy movie ever made..... we frendz left the theater in 1st half only... I understand that this Director may b copycat but direction matters a lot... and he scored full 10/10 in direction and giving us lots of funny moments specially ghuggi, jaswinedr bhalla, binnu... I am a Hindu who knows Hindi Language better than Punjabi still I will prefer to watch this movie again and again and will never take any chance/risk to watch ktgh again

reply

Just watching KTGH right now!! Ditto copy but few things changed, not a bad comedy thought. The only reason why it didnt run or commercially accepted is because lack of good/known actors and music. COJ is super funny and KTGH does not reach as high as COJ, doesnt even come close, and also looks fresh with known Punjabi actors and decent music.
BUT, its a copy of KTGH, some credit should be given to KTGH writer(s).

reply

I agree with u ..n that's what m saying..they should have given credits to the writers of KTGH..The only thing i liked about COJ was the chemistry b/w Jaswinder Bhalla n Binnu Dhillon..Well, Ghuggi's dad (B.N.Sharma)in the film was also funny.

reply

Well, you missed the 2nd half and the most important part where COJ starts copying KTGH

reply

Yep I agree the chemistry between the father and son (Dhillon and Bhalla) was the highlight of the movie. Right from the opening scene of the movie to the very end I can't seem to find any scene where they were not together and were not funny. Right from the way he receives the call and then closes it to the "Dhillon Ne Kala Coat enj nahin paya" it was abosultely hilarious....
Does the "Kuch To Gadbar hai" has the "Ghori" i.e stair scene as well? The last scene was a typical Priyadarshan movie ending scene (Hungama, Hera Pheri, Phir Hera Pheri) etc.

reply

Yes they do..they had used Ladder in KTGH..whereas in COJ they had used Ghori.

reply

totally agree with you that credit should be given as the story and many of the scenes are similar.... but dialogues r different thats y v laughed a lot in COJ... yes bro i missed 2nd half in theater... but tried to watch it in CVO.... but in next 15 mins of 2nd half i felt sleepy and thank god i switch off the TV

reply

Well this is quite frustrating. Copying the storyline is one thing but copying exact scenes is disgusting .. If I had watched KTGH earlier and then watched COJ I definitely would not have enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed it now....

reply

arshad u r totally wrong here i watched both KTGH is complete garbage no1 will ever enjoy that movie.... filled with overacting and no comedy.... but this movie i watched 3 times in theater even in delhi and really enjoyed it... mast waali movie it is

reply

As I have said earlier I don't think any movie can compete with the dialogs/acting/chemistry between actors of Carry On Jatta. But the thing is that if I know something is a rip-off of another I lose interest in it unless the director acknowledges it and says it's a remake and gives due credit to the original one. I know this kind of practice is almost non-existent in bollywood...
