Question

Several times the movie mentioned Father Yod's great wealth, yet his wife indicated she was left destitute. Did I miss something? Did he leave a will, and how was his property divided after his death?

reply

Yeah it was strange. He had 13 wives after he left Robin though so I can only assume each of them were entitled to a share of Yod´s estate.

It said they squandered their money in Hawaii. They bought a plane to spot fish for their fishing boat? His "wife" probably wasn't so in any legal sense. What a bunch of goofy people. Hippies.

The documentary showed Robin (only 19 years old) and Baker (early 40-ish) getting married in what appeared to be a civil ceremony. She put him on the path to becoming Father Yod and was the group's "mother". When he went polygamous and started practicing sexual black magic with the 13 wives towards the end, Robin nearly left but changed her mind upon finding herself pregnant. I wonder if Robin broke up Baker's 2nd marriage/family (from the real world). How did the first marriage/family break up? None of that was addressed. I wonder what the kids and former wives have to say now.

By becoming polygamous, Baker broke his "commandment" on monogamy which disenchanted many in the group. But as Baker earlier proclaimed "Everything revolves around balling." That was his downfall - like so many other egomaniacs. The local community did not approve of his very public pimp daddy lifestyle. So Baker sold The Source Restaurant which had provided a steady income for the group, packed up and flew off to Kaui with his followers to earn a living fishing. Nothing worked out...locals hated them...money squandered on a boat and plane...no fish....no customer base for the fish, etc. At least with the restaurant, he could get fresh food whole sale to feed the group. Too many costs started adding up and no $ was coming in.

The coward, only 53, took the easy way out thereby abandoning all the children he proclaimed to love. Pitiful but so typical. At least he finally fessed up to everybody that he is just a man and not actually God. Nobody is going to convince me he didn't have internal injuries - - probably from crash landing on his big butt. I read that at least his posterior was bruised. He couldn't even walk. When was the autopsy conducted and where is the report?

Baker's "commandment" on not seeking medical help was probably all about money. Here he is taking in all these people (based on their physical appearance) and their worldly goods. He doesn't want to have to be responsible for medical too...... Why else would Baker even consider seeking medical attention for himself towards the end? Only a hypocrite would ask after witnessing one of the group kids nearly die of an ear infection because nobody would take the baby to the doctor.

And I cannot even believe a local high school let the group come on campus to recruit. No way would that go over today.

Baker had 3 bio kids from the group at the time of his death. Children, spouses, parents are first tier heirs where I live - - but maybe they didn't timely assert their rights before everything was squandered. Who owns the music recordings? I'll bet the real musicians (everybody but Yod) never saw a penny.

interesting, i find a lot of the teaching to make sense common sense love , peace, tranquil who doesn't want that, but a cult is a cult when you give up your own will to that of one person then thats a cult.. but but all the symbols used and displayed through out the cafes and such are all illuminati.. age of aquarious means just that, the changing of times and that of darker times hidden as light and love.. good luck peopel

I found it fascinating that several of them never got out of the cult mentality and stayed in cultish groups.

LOL I was totally surprised schools let them play there. You can't even have mainstream religious group preach at a public school now, imagine a cult where the leader takes underage wives. California in the 70s must have been a strange place.
He should have stayed in the restaurant business. There were almost no health food places back then and that market has only gotten steadily bigger every year since. Should have opened up franchises in other hip market. Could have been a hippie success story instead of just another failed commune.

As far as I could tell, Robin was his only legal wife. No one can legally have 14 wives, and I never heard the word divorce used anywhere. All I could figure is he squandered all the money in Hawaii, they made it sound like the family stayed on after his death, so they must have lived on something.
