Wow! I figured at the end I'd learn that most of them has more common sense now than they did in the 70's...but the majority of them don't.

You know you don't have to like the group to like the movie. The Manson Family have some great documentaries about them, you don't have to like them in order to think the movie about them was good. I am not about to join a cult and think the members were foolish and crazy but I thought the movie was great. And you must have missed all the musicians who called them an influence, those records fetch big bucks on E bay now.
I thought this film was interesting look into the motivations of people who joined a far out hippie cult. It is an interesting story and your 3 star rating is way off. Maybe you should take mushrooms and watch it. Oh wait it will fry your brain the police man on tee vee said so.
They were looking for something and they found a cult. I can't imagine falling victim to this kind of cult, especially after the Manson murders, but those early boomers burned their brains out with drugs it appears.
