Did anyone find that the main character was kind of unlikeable?

It was kind of hard to sympathize with him because he was kind of a douche. Especially the way he went off on Kat's character for just trying to help.

I dont think he was a total douche,i think i would have done the same this always happens in these kinds a movies the main character gets frustrated and goes off on people trying to help. Tommy thought Matt was being truthful about wanting to help, but kept having his doubts, first hearing that he got suspended from the team due to what happen at the start and then he hears that the whole contest and matts friendship was a joke, its kind of understandable what tommy did. I thought all the characters were great

Hi I am Howard Alter the Producer of Contest. I think you hit on something really important that we though about a bunch. We wanted Tommy to not be totally good, he had issues to work through it terms of trust, and he was at times naive. We tried to show his flaws as well as his good points. The scene you are specifically talking about. Tommy's whole way that he viewed the world was totally upside down. He ultimately wanted to take back those comments. Really cool that you have a strong opinion and we really respect it and hear it. Thanks for taking the time!

I totally sympathized with Tommy, even when he was acting out toward his friends before the end of the second act. He was hurt and was starting to think he couldn't trust anyone. Luckily he came around and realized that Matt had changed.

I had a similar response of disliking the main character. I found that I was rooting more for their alliance than any particular character.

For that particular scene I actually appreciated him brushing her off, rather than it taking the predictable route of her pushing through his anger and solving the crime to get the bad guys (though the later unraveling of it was somewhat flimsy).
