3/10. Here's why / Esta es la razón:

A lot of movies about cancer have 1 or 2 moments where the patient has a cathartic moment of rage, but MISS YOU ALREADY is the 1st movie I've seen where most of the plot is about a cancer patient who acts like they eat salty vanilla every hour. While I can't accuse the movie of being an unoriginal melodrama, I can (and want to) accuse it of being over-long and having a set of main characters that are either bland or a pain in the ass. With an unglamorous visual style and very straight-forward dialogue, director Catherine Hardwicke gave THIRTEEN a gritty feel. It worked, because that movie had a story on the edge of bleakness that was ultimately "just" dark because of the (kind of) hopeful ending. It doesn't work now, because this movie has a tear-jerking story with an equal amount of serious and comedic moments, a sad climax and an uplifting epilogue.

Muchas películas sobre cáncer tienen 1 o 2 momentos donde el paciente tiene un momento catártico de ira, pero YA TE EXTRAÑO es la 1 película que he visto en donde la mayoría de la trama se trata de una paciente de cáncer que actúa como si comiera vainilla salada a cada hora. Aunque no puedo acusar a la película de ser un melodrama poco original, puedo (y quiero) acusarla de ser demasiado larga y de tener un grupo de personajes principales que son o sosos o un dolor de cabeza. Con estilo visual poco glamoroso, la directora Catherine Hardwicke le dio a A LOS TRECE una sensación oscuramente realista. Funcionó, porque esa película tenía una historia al filo de la desolación que al final «solo» fue oscura debido al final (casi) esperanzador. No funciona ahora, porque esta película tiene una historia hecha para llorar con una igual cantidad de momentos serios y cómicos, un clímax triste y un epílogo esperanzador.
