To ME, I felt like Tini's charactger, Millie, was a LOT older than Drew ( Jesse) in REAL life and the movie. I was not moved like I was in Fried Green Tomaties and Beaches, and I LOVE Drew! 4/10

I came to this forum to discuss this same issue. To me there seemed to be a big age difference, both in appearance and behavior. But then Toni to me looks probably a bit older due to her kinda skeletal facial structure, where Drew has always had a bit of a babyish face.

I just googled their ages, Collette's 43, Barrymore 41. So in reality they are close enough in age to play classmates.

I enjoyed the movie, but agree it wasn't as good as Fried Green Tomatoes.

i also thought she was way older. like a decade at least. her character was incredibly annoying as well which didn't help.

I came here just to say that Toni Collette looked way older than Dominic Cooper. She is six years older than him, I think. But Dominic has just always looked a lot younger than he is anyway.
I would say that Toni looked that way for the show just to look the right shape for cancer and chemo. But Toni, is so thin that I think she just looks older.
