I Really Enjoyed this Film

I watched this last night for a special showing through Sky. Have to say, it was better than I thought it would be. Even though I saw the trailer before hand which led me to think it was going to be good.

Some great dry sense of humour moments and I thought all of the cast were good. Although I have a soft spot for Rose Byrne. Yum!

Stephen Merchant was very funny throughout and also Minnie Driver made me laugh. She's still nice too!

All in all, I would give this an 8 out of 10 and expect it to do well at the box office.

I saw this too last night and thought it was excellent. The cast were brilliant, and it's really funny, there was a laugh out loud moment every couple of minutes. Stephen Merchants moments were highlights of the film for me. Great british comedy and i'd also give an 8/10

Due to request of the poster I guess I should as u, how was Anna faris?

How was Anna faris?

Perhaps Hogey should reply to this as I am not her greatest fan. Whenever I watch her in a film, I can't get her Scarey Movie character out of my head, so I don't take anything serious. In fact, her voice annoys me as I remember it and her facial expressions in an attempted (but failed) comedy.

That being said, she did the job and it passed. But couldn't warm to her character because of my unfair remembrence.

Agreed... Just seen it at a Sneak Preview Screening and I loved it. The dry humor cracked me up a couple of times... So funny... Although it's going to be a R-rated movie and I wonder if the US-version will be cut... I give it a 7 out of ten... Great fun, go watch it...

Saw it today and really enjoyed it too. A comedy that both men and women could enjoy. Stephen Merchant stole the show as he did in Hall Pass!

I saw this the night it came out in the UK. And i can't remember the last time i went to the cinema where the audience was laughing so loud it drowned out the movie (johnny English i think was the last one). Although the movie could of done with being turned up volume wise. I hate going to cinemas because of all the talking/mobile phones/crunchy food. But i really enjoyed this film. I thought the bits they kept showing on chat shows were gonna be the only funny bits in it but there's so many more characters in the film and so much more to the story that they don't tell you about which i like. A great film. Ive noticed a lot of films these days ending in sadness though, where the two main characters don't actually end up together, The Wedding Video, The Break-Up, I Give It A Year (anyone think of any others? There's definitely another that i can't think of at the moment). Seems like the year for break ups in movies which is an intersting spin on a rom com i think. 7/10

Yeah sorry maybe 'sad' was the wrong word to use, it definitely made the ending unconventional, you usually expect the two lead characters to end up together. The american two were more supporting characters

reply

I actually felt that the ending to this film was rather unconventional. The two main characters were clearly not a good match and it was obvious they should be with the other characters. The premise of the movie almost sold a story to me that would let us see the couple struggle to find each other again, realising that yes perhaps they can make things work. At least that's my interpretation of it. Whilst I rooted for Simon Baker and Rose Byrne's characters to get together, I didnt care much for the other couple, so the ending to me was neither sad or happy, just a bit cringeworthy

I did enjoy the movie too. All the characters were funny with hilarious lines. Honestly, I went to see it because of Simon Baker, because I looove him. But I was surprised by the humour of Byrne and Driver.
I strongly recommand it!

I enjoyed it a lot - I laughed so much during the 'threesome' scene!

reply

It's been a while since I've laughed so consistently at a movie. There were a few laugh-out-loud moments that stand out, particularly the minister choking at the beginning, the threesome scene, the dove scene and the digital slideshow presentation.

reply

I did too, it was an unconventional comedy, and very funny.

reply

... and it really sucked balls :)

you too!

Yeah, loads of fun! Great ensemble cast ... Stephen Merchant and Minnie Driver and Anna Faris are particularly great in their supporting roles.
