Russian Nesting Dolls

I was surprised, sort of, that neither of the contestants "got" the dolls. I was expecting someone to do something with layers and neither did. Do you wonder if they even knew what they were about? I was surprised the host didn't insult them about not properly utilizing the idea. It would have been much more interesting than what either of them did.
