Changed format

The episodes are diffrent than they used to be. For starters, Chef Ron doesn't seem as goofy as he usually does. Instead, he seems serious. Even one of the contestants pointed out he's not smiling. Also, they've changed the traditional categories of Chocolate, candy, and cake, to baked, frozen, and chocolate. Also, there's the robot voice, which wouldn't be so bad, but now Chef Ron doesn't say nearly as much to the viewers.

I have to say, I don't like the changes at all. Just my opinion though. Still really like the show, and the chef when he does speak.

I think the ones they have been showing lately are repeats from last season.
He was much more serious in the last season's shows.
This season he has been much more light and funny.

Also, the older shows contest were baked, frozen, and chocolate.
I like the newer format, chocoate, candy and cake.

Maybe they are making more episodes. I can't wait to see what else they come up with !!

triskiera is correct. The new season features chocolate, candy, and cake rounds, as well as a more personable Chef Ron...minus the robotic voice weirdness. You must have caught an episode of the old season.

Season one was Chocolate, Frozen, Baked...since then it has been Chocolate, Candy, Cake. I find Chef RBI to be quite sweet and funny. I adore this show and even watch the reruns from prior seasons.

Ok, say what you want. Maybe you don't "Work on the show." strictly speaking. Maybe you're just some random person who emailed Food Network about this show, then was encouraged to post your rosy opinion; or maybe you have a friend or relative over there. You are WAY too complimentary and happy about this godawful show.

First, it's just a cheapo, dime-a-dozen competition show. This has been done dozens of times and formats before: most all of them better than this. This point, in particular has me almost certain you've got another angle we don't know. (of course, you are going to deny it...big surprise) But ANOTHER bottom of the barrel competition show that should be middle-of-the-day-during-housecleaning fodder; you gush all over the messageboards about THIS show? I don't buy it.

Second, the host is a weird, creepy, rude, little nobody. Maybe he does have a ton of expertise, maybe he's a pastry instructor...so what? Nobody has ever heard of him, so he doesn't have the name credibility to get us by his bizarre persona. Some people like Simon Cowell, have the force of personality to be an ass, and the audience will buy it and think he's right-even if he's not. Sadly, this dude on Sweet Genius does not have that either.

People are entitled to their opinions. I even would understand if some people said they liked the show. This country has a lot of odd people. But you are a little too vigorous in your adoration and praise of the show, to be real. You doth protest too much... And your only posts I can see on IMDB are about this show.

It is the food network, this is th kind of show you get, food. If you want Simon, go to fox. Ben Israel is not so no name food instructor. Just because people like something you don't doesn't make us spies. If you hate it, why he *beep* bitch about it here, turn the channel

If you knew about food, oud know he is more Han instructor. He is a famous cake designer featured in every major magazine, on shows like Oprah, mentored by Martha Stewart and does major events in new york.

Ok, I'll ignore all the condescending attitude, that I must not KNOW about food. I'll tell you something you might not know. I might not be in the food business, but I do know about food, and I'm damn good at cooking it. I DO know who RBI is, and yes he IS a no name, in the nation as a whole. The Food network is not just for snobby little groupies like you. They have to go after the American public in order to get ratings and be profitable and featured/requested in cable lineups across the country.

To that end, Sweet Genius is a train wreck of a show. It is a third-rate, copycat competition show with an off-putting host. Congratulations if you like it. Good for you if you know RBI's every accomplishment, maybe shoe size too? I'm just saying that a lot of the people on this board are absolutely too gaga and bubbly over this mediocre (to be kind) show.

And as for telling me not to bitch about it here...is this your first time on the internet? The post I made was the only time ever on this show's board. I came out of curiosity because I DO watch the Food network, and saw the new promos. I was curious what everybody else had to say about this silly show. I posted my opinion. Your old, tired fallback-when-you-have-no-substance- argument of "well don't watch it" would much better apply to someone who constantly trolls on this board complaining about the show over and over. THEN you might rightfully say, "then just don't watch." For the record, I don't watch, thanks. And I therefore will not keep coming back time after time to complain. So have fun watching your cousin's show!

Another pea brain rant by someone who doesn't even watch the how. Guess what people like the show. Implying we re ll employees of the show or our of our mind? Why o you thnk there at two how's of same format, thi nd chopped? Because they are popular and people like watching. They saw the ratings of chopped and decided to try with desserts. The food network is a business, and they air shows which get he viewers. Only real foodies enjoy watching h basic food show. By doing competitions, it open the door to a broader udience, plain nd simple.

Agin for someone who is too lazy t watch an episode, ou bitch a lot. Jus focus on your own shows and let us not n peace

I agree. But sadly there are people like him all over IMDb. I'm not going to argue with him/her. Not worth my time.

I agree completely. I'm not going to argue either...

I have started posting on the Food Network site which has viewers who like this and other shows. It's much more enjoyable to chat with fellow fans rather than try to defend yourself all the time !! LOL
