I didn't like the Red Dragon adaptation

I didn't get a good feel for Dolarhyde (his lengthy origin and work life were barely touched on), the dialogue taken from the novel felt clunkily integrated, and Richard Armitage didn't exude menace (particularly compared to previous actors in the role).

I also didn't think juggling the roles of Lounds, Chilton and Bloom really worked.

ALSO, the time jump mid-season was jarring.

I appreciate the effort Fuller went to tell Red Dragon in the face of certain cancellation but, damn ... I wish it had received a full season to let the story arc and characters breath.

I wish they could have stretched out the story line longer too, but I thought Armitage was excellent in the role. When he was silent was when he was the most menacing to me.

I thought he played the best Dolarhyde , but I agree that they should've touched on his backstory a bit more. Those few seconds of a flashback that didn't even have dialogue just weren't enough.

I thought he did a great job as Dolarhyde. Very symnpathetic but then he scared the sht out of me.

I can only speak as someone who has really only seen this iteration...

I loved it and thought s3 really picked up with the introduction of his story line. Yes, it would've been best if they could've devoted more time to it (even an entire season), but they were in a crunch since it was looking like cancellation could happen, but Fuller wanted to tell his version of it. So, he had to make the decision to do what he could with it in the time that they had. Considering that, I think they all did one hell of a job.

In a perfect world this show would've been given all the time it needed to tell its story. C'est la vie!

I agree. This is my favourite of the Lecter books. However, here it felt rushed and I did not feel drawn into the story.

So far, Michael Mann's Manhunter is by far the best adaptation.

You can't palm off a second-rater on me. You gotta remember I was in the pink!
