Did Hannibal rape Alana?

He certainly had sex with her under false pretences, but she wasn't exactly unwilling either. Certainly her behaviour toward him after she learns the truth suggests she feels it was a violation.

No, she consented. His lies made it feel like a violation, but she wasn't forced.

reply

Not at all. He seduced and manipulated a lot of people, including her, but never coerced or forced anything on her. Hell, he raped Will's mind and throat, not Alana's body.

Violation of trust, yes, she has to feel that.

Ofcourse it was a violation.

What false pretenses? They were long time friends, and she made the first move to be friends with benefits.

reply

....Dude.... Nah.

I had sex with someone who turned out to be crazy, too, but that doesn't mean she raped me , lmao

reply

Hannibal is too much of a decent person to rape someone.

reply

I wouldn't go THAT far, but yeah, rape just isn't his MO. Try Mason Verger for that , lol

reply

I won't call him decent, he just find sexual assault very rude.

No, it wasn't rape. It was definitely consensual. I think we need to remember that rape is a very specific crime.

I wasn't thinking in a legal sense. I was thinking in terms of Alana's reaction. She behaves, once she has control over Hannibal, like an abuse victim gaining vengeance on her rapist. From Alana's perspective, does she now view him has having raped her?

I doubt it honestly (but I can see where you're coming from), but she does definitely feel betrayed and likely even violated (although "rape" would be a strong word) by Hannibal. He caused her and her friends a lot of suffering, so she has a lot of reason to be satisfied at having power over him...or at least believing that she does, since Hannibal always has the upper hand.

Dude, the man is a serial killer who destroyed everything and everyone she knows, how she was going to react?

He had her pushed out the fking window from the second floor. Ofcourse she's going to be pissed off. Wouldnt you be? WTF does that have to do with rape?

I agree with darkness. Third wave feminists want to see rape where there is no rape. She's the one who seduced him. Oh noooo😱 He raped her. Get over it.

reply

I really hate these 3rd Wave Feminists have effect on the definition of Rape.

Rape = Sex without consent.

It doesn't matter if the person lied to you, if you consented to the sex, it's not rape.

There's no law against lying to someone to get them into bed, and if they did lie, how would you prove it anyway?
