It's been a while since I saw it (and it's not on YT), but I recall that we're led to believe that the daughter will find her mother dead. But, instead, she sees her mother scanning the woods through her binoculars. It's then that we realize that she is suffering from paranoia - the restless(ness) of the title. It has all been in her mind.




If there aren't any skeletons in a man's closet, there's probably a Bertha in his attic.

What made you draw that conclusions- that it was all in her mind???;

It's not spelled out in the movie because, otherwise, there'd be no mystery and tension, but the clues were there. See the thread "Thoughts on the film". Also, of course, this is based on a novel by William Boyd.
