Lack of evidence?

In the final confrontation between Eva (Charlotte Rampling) and Romer, she threatened to expose him as a Russian spy, so he committed suicide. Unless I missed something, she didn't have one shred of evidence for this, just her "instincts".

In the intelligence community it would only require Eva's account to pick him up and subject him to coercive interrogation.

Correct KRASNY,ROMER would have been on a list of suspected Soviet spies and her evidence would have just confirmed it.

Currently reading "THE DEFENCE OF THE REALM-THE AUTHORISED HISTORY OF MI5"by CHRISTOPHER ANDREW.
I reckon the author of the book this film is based on has read a lot of intelligence history, some of this stuff is based on real events and the true story of BSC in America was amazing.
So sorry for all these nazis spies accidently run over by New York taxi drivers.

But RESTLESS was a bit disappointing as a drama but it is the sort of thing I like,a bigger budget would have been nice.

With her experience and instincts, Sally just figured out, looking back at when Romer first recruited her--a Soviet emigre--that he was NKVD.

She had a lot of proof in her own mind, especially after everybody in her cell at Transoceana was systematically killed (well, except for Alfie...but...he was going anyway). Sally just connected a lot of dots and realized whom Romer was working for.

Ruth summed it up when she looked at Romer in his reception room and said "YOU are the sixth man!"

The legendary sixth man was always the one everybody thought was still out there, after the Cambridge Five. But, nobody could ever figure out who he was.

So, Romer was the infamous Sixth Man.

He had two women coming to his home and telling him they knew he was the Sixth Man. He really could only take one way out at that point--so he did it.

A guy living a huge secret of betrayal of his country like that for decades must have always known what he'd have to do if ever confronted for what and who he was.

He had to have prepared for that moment. He seemed to have the gear in hand ready to do the deed.
