The girlfriend

OMG, I felt so bad for Kyle when that utter harpy BITCH of a so-called girlfriend was berating him on live TV in front of millions! She may have been worried about raising a child without him, and he may have been selfish with going along with his plan without thinking of the ramifications, but I thought she was very much hysterical. She was humiliating him in public, making him out to be a complete nobody. If I were him, I don't know what I'd do, maybe curl up into a corner. But the point is, he had to make his point and see it through to the end to expose corruption in Wall Street, and I applaud him for that.

Yeah exactly, it was really well done! When you said "I don't know what I'd do", I think that's the point - we had no idea how he'd react (maybe blow the bomb up and kill everyone). Great moment!

Tbf to her he's her partner and is supposed tone supporting her in preparation for her new born baby. Instead he's on a *beep* suicide mission after investing all the money he has onto a stock which like every stock always has a chance of failing

"a man can't have feelings and cry" lol so when a man has feelings and wants to cry it's ok for him to take over a studio with a bomb and a gun?

reply

She was horrible yes... But honestly the guy didn't have his priorities straight

Baby on the way and you take a gun to a TV studio?

How about prepare to raise the baby??

Her reaction was horrible but... He didn't exactly make the right decision either

The characters were purposely made as cliche as possible. Clooney represented American sensationalism and the guy represented 'the average poorly educated who is sensitive and has been told by everyone in his life that men aren't supposed to have feelings'.

Having said that, the man's pregnant partner's outburst was typical of someone who is (emotionally) immature. She is not in control of her emotional decision making, and doesn't seem to be able to understand how her behaviours affect the people around her.

From a trained counsellor's point of view. The idea is to 'help' people who are in crisis. The more we help each other the better the world we live in becomes. The best way to help someone is to build them up, not put them down.

A counsellor is not someone who gives advice. Far from it. There is a great deal of education and training that goes into a counsellor's position. To begin helping someone you must start with showing understanding and empathy. This is not an easy task. You don't just say "I understand you" and move on to the next step. The counsellor must begin with a great deal of INTENSIVE listening. Listening intensively is a skill that takes practise and isn't easy. Believe me, it doesn't come naturally.

Step two involves helping the person in crisis understand that we make choices with our emotions, thought processes, and behaviours. The world doesn't control us. There is always a way to face situations and see them through, and we don't have to do it alone.

Step 3 is to make a plan of action.

Step 4 is to help the person start putting the plan into action.

Had Kyle's partner taken this approach, things would have turned out very differently.

She was a great character. So you want to play crazy guy? Ok, I see that and raise you a drill sergeant, LOL!

That was what the movie is all about. Men who failed to their women, George to Julia and Jack to the girlfriend. That's what most people don't see and it is precisely the most important part of the film. Without these female characters, there's no movie.

Clooney was not the boyfriend of Roberts, or at least I did not saw that.
The guy owner of the company and the RP girl, hard to believe that could happen even for a movie.
The movie is more about Fraud covered by Governments and a system that allows it.
I liked the semi-critic to the Media. Strange to see the TYT guy there too.
A mix of Bitcoin concept, stocks, with entertaining acting but fails to criticize the Wall Street gangsters.

And about that girlfriend of the protagonist great acting, but I would probably have done the same thing he did at the end. He really didn't want to go back to that horrible life.

I found that scene crass and unrealistic. Putting aside that most ordinary people would not speak to their partner that way in that situation, the police would have briefed her on what to say beforehand. Such a contrived scene designed to make clooney's character (and us) to feel sorry for kyle.

I think Klye'so girlfriend isn't horrible. She just tell the true and probably really angry with what he is doing. They probably always fighting that he doesn't but only watch the stock and being a bum but she got to go out and work. It is true that she shouldn't humiliate him in public but what she said is right to the point and make the film more interesting than make her to be a reasonable or calm person. I bet if he don't die in the end they will be back together as they always been.

I loved the scene purely because she was not acting the way most women in that position do in other movie. They usually cry and beg the guy to do the right thing. I loved that she didn't play the role of JIMINY CRICKET - men should have their own conscience!
