Older man/Younger man romance in Paris

One of the best gay themed films I have ever seen. The acting was top notch and very believable. And the views of Paris were great.

Yes I agree, I am not sure why the rating is so low. I really enjoyed the movie. It deserves a 7/10.

This movie needed suspension of disbelief in a few places but I really enjoyed it, the story and the characters. It was sweet and escapist and there's nothing wrong with that!

Really? That makes me very sad. I did not have high hopes based on the title alone. It wasn't the worst film I've ever seen but it's in a close race.

How is picking up a strange drunk man from the gutter, bringing him home, letting him sleep in your bed and then showering with him the next morning realistic?

The rating should be much, much lower car c'était nul comme filme.

The romantic in me really wanted to love this film but it is flawed and, at times, unrealistic. Both leads were quite attractive, the acting was fine. The sound editing, at least in the Netflix streaming version, is very choppy. Brad's accent (I know it was referenced in the film but I missed it) is NOT American at all. I agree with other comments about picking up a drunk from the gutter, taking him home, letting him blow you the next day etc are a bit off the ledge for someone who is a romantic, as Claude is portrayed. Though I didn't dislike the film, I look forward to what the director offers us next. Filmmaking, like life, is a learning process.

I agree with you. This film doesn't come close to "Shelter", "Latter Days", "The Trip" or "Brokeback Mountain" by a mile as far as best gay movie is concerned, LOL. Even the light-hearted rom-coms, "Eating Out", "Make the Yuletide Gay" and "Is It Just Me?", are substantially better than this one. In terms of storyline, director, actors performances, the quality comes across as abject amateurish. Many gay porn productions are even better produced than this one, LOL.

I have to agree. It was dreadful.

I'm with godzillabird as far as Brad's accent....usually European's can fool with accents, he could NOT!

There is an attempt made to explain Brad's accent when Claude and Brad are getting to know each other early in the film (Claude says something about Brad's funny accent). Unfortunately the dialogue at this point is somewhat garbled (happens a few times in this film) and I could not make out what Brad says about his national origin.

"Brad" did say something about why he did not have an American sounding accent (which Claude appears to have picked up on, because he lived one year in the states), but then Claude made the comment that he must have an Arizona accent (he was wearing an "Arizona" t-shirt), and they left it at that. So there was no explanation as to why his English had a foreign sounding accent.

I agree that the film was decidedly mediocre and amateurish in parts. The pacing was horribly slow in parts - they could easily have cut at least 20 minutes. Also, I agree that the premise is preposterous - essentially a gay version of Notting Hill.
