Alarming Case of Tunnel Vision

I would love a political show that is not infected by the narrow minded tunnel vision mentality that visualizes the entire world exclusively in terms of the politics of the District of Columbia. Some are commenting about how this fictional SOS will affect the chances of Lady Clinton getting elected as POTUS. What about the REALLY IMPORTANT things that the Dept of State has to do, such as preventing the Arab Spring from becoming a beastly winter of Islamist terror???
A book of world history I read in the 80s says that the leaders of the French Fourth Republic became so engrossed in the palace intrigues and machinations in Paris that they totally forgot that they had a colonial empire to rule; not surprisingly, the independence leaders of that empire--such as Sekou Toure of Guinea, Habib Bourguiba of Tunisia, Ahmed Ben-Bella of Algeria, Ho Chi Minh of Viet Nam--took that indifference of the French toward their empire as their cue to start fighting to overthrow said empire.

... I'm not sure exactly what you are getting at.

Are you saying you think the show should focus more on her traveling and being a sort of diplomat and meeting with foreign representatives? If you are, this show has only about 6 episodes so I think they are going to only focus on major political moments during the Obama years like the Iranian hostage situation.

A SOS IS a diplomat who is supposed to deal with dangerous events such as those involving the Middle East. A SOS who is concerned mostly about getting elected Pdt, as is the case in this show, does not deserve to be Pdt because she is neglecting her sworn duty.

Well, so far she handled the Iranian hostage situation, and it's not like she is gloating and really making plans for running. She just shared it with her son and someone on her security detail.

It's only 2 episodes in, give it time. It's not like she has already started campaigning, she just go the job in the first episode, then she got the Iranian situation which is now resolved. Episode 3 will probably have a new crisis unless they time jump.
