What did Europeans think of this movie?

I think part of the reason why this movie didn't do so well in the US was that American audiences are totally unaware of the source material. That's unfortunate, since European comics have a lot of great material.

So how did this movie do among viewers in Europe who have been reading the Valerian & Laureline comics for decades? Would there be any chance of a sequel based on performance at the European box office?

Same as rest of the world, Valerian was only big in France and maybe Belgium. But it did influence alot of Science Fiction in Britain and America.
