Did Anyone Enjoy the Movie?

Is it painfully bad, surprisingly good or just meh?

reply

Somewhere between meh and good. I did like it, but there were a few cringey parts. The CGI was the best part by far.

Meh sounds like I may be bored. I was going to wait for the DVD, but a critic said it's a must see in the theater because of the CGI. I'm still on the fence.

reply

The CGI is amazing beyond belief but the story and acting is meh.

I agree, I was mesmerized by the CGI. It was like a sony viao wallpaper turned into a movie. The actual movie was average. The CGI dressed it up, the leads were horrible and made me think of how much I missed Bruce Willis from the 5th Element. It was pretty much an updated version of that with weak actors. I'd advise him not to revisit this again in another decade or so with another installment as it is getting stale.

Surpringly good. Graphics will hold up in 10 years time. Certainly will probably age better than the gfx in Fifth Element. Probably most enjoyable film I'll see this summer.

I enjoyed it a lot! Okay, I went in with low expectations because of the bad reviews and because I'd seen Cara DelV act elsewhere... so I was pleasantly surprised by all the good stuff and not surprised by the miscast leads. The good stuff does include awesomely cool sci-fi settings, lots of fast-paced action, solid supporting performances, terrific costumes, and a central conflict that touched me.

The film does have a massive central flaw in that both leading actors are horribly miscast and can't carry their roles, I mean they're supposed to be badasses on the level of the Guardians of the Galaxy... but they both look like fifteen year old dweebs and neither can act. If you can look past them at the rest of the movie, you can have a pretty damn good time.

Thought it was bad but enjoyable. Like many so bad it's good movies. There are redeeming qualities to this movie and I can see it having a cult following over the next few years but it's far from being good.

I enjoyed the movie as I watched it for the first time on the big screen, but I have no desire to see it again. Shallow eye candy.

reply

I really enjoyed it

Painfully bad but also watchable? I don't know, it's effing bad. But it's kind of, sort of okay? That makes no sense but that's how I felt after the first viewing.

My wife, my two brothers and I all enjoyed it immensely. We all have different tastes, but we all liked it. It has a lot of CGI, and that condemns it for many people. But given the imagery needed for this story, it was well used.

It is different than mainstream space opera. And I think it was marketed poorly.
