Things that could make future PR seasons better...

After watching this season of Power Rangers, I have made a small list of things that could make future seasons better:

1. The wardrobe. This season we saw our rangers wear the same outfit in every single episode, minus the hat and apron from Ernie's and the mascot uniform. One of the things I loved in previous seasons was how the rangers had different outfits almost every episode.

2. Story arcs. It felt that there were only 2 story arcs this season, Robo Knight and Orion. One of the things that developed characters were the 2-5 episode story arcs throughout the season. The last three or four episodes this season could have all been together rather than different titles and seem disconnected from each other.

3. Token "relive the past rangers" episode. This season's use of past rangers seemed forced and unrelated to the final episode. You had a few rangers in the first 5-7 minutes then you don't see them again until the last 5-7 minutes and they are only used for fighting the putty patrol equivalents. Given how they were used I didn't see a point of even having them remove their helmets. Don't get me wrong, I loved seeing JDF in his original green ranger outfit. Just seemed forced having the gang take off their helmets and only have a couple of them having lines. It might not have been forced if they were able to make the legendary battle a 2 part episode and have them assist the rangers more in that final battle.

I somewhat enjoyed Megaforce, I love Power Rangers, but this season was almost like when your mom makes you eat a veggie you absolutely dislike. What are some things you guys would hope to see changed going on with future seasons of Power Rangers?

Everything needs to be better. But now Judd Lynn is back in charge, hopefully that is what will happen.

Could you give a few specifics? Like your top 3? I think its cool to see how everyone's top 3 are alike or different.

Sure.

1. An original story - Jonathan Tzachor seemed obsessed with sticking close to the sentai, to the point where sometimes the story didn't fit. PR has always been better IMO when it makes its own story.

2. Stop the MMPR obsession - Whether it was Tzachor or Saban's idea (I think the latter) they need to stop trying to make the show like MMPR. Saban seems to think it's still the 90's.

3. The acting - PR acting has never been great, but it's always been pretty passable. I'm not sure if it's the actors however, I think it might be tzachor's direction. I'm sure I read somewhere that Tzachor tells them to act a certain way, for whatever reason (it seems a weird coincidence that Tzachor's three seasons - Wild Force, Samurai and Megaforce all have abysmal acting).

This. A million times this.

Samurai regressed the series back far more than I ever thought it could have... and then Megaforce pushed it back even further! All the growth, all the development (despite being somewhat disconnected series each year) POOF! Gone with the hand-over back to Saban. Tzachor was just the icing on the cake of dumbing the show back down.

After watching the Black Nerd's live stream of Power Morphicon, it seems like Lynn is pretty much on the same page as the most of us, and I have almost complete faith in him for this next series.

you mean the cheezy "morph/mega isms", the token nerd/sports/kinda ditzy characters, talking to a giant head on the wall, robot assistant, corny hi-yahs?

if so, I agree. I think they used the MMPR obsession thinking that it would keep us older people that grew up on the original interested. What they failed to see was that the essence of PR has changed as have the original fans.

Yes, yes, yes. I thought the acting in Wild Force and Samurai were slightly better than Megaforce, but that's just my opinion. They should use American/Canadian actors or at lease an Australian/New Zeland actor who can nail the American accent and not slip back into aussie/NZ accent (Conner from DT and Mack from Overdrive anyone??) Also, the freedom to portray the lines the way they feel they should.

1. All agree with you on the wardrobe, mainly because I didn't notice what they wore every episode but yeah a little diversity would help.

2. A little trouble getting new abilities, or maybe progress and instead just handed to them. Mainly with the whole super mode. It was given to them. Gosei already had the power and the keys, why not just give them the ability and the sky ship in the first episode of Megaforce. I get it, it was a shorter season and they had a lot to work but maybe the super mode morphers were lost in the sky ship and the rangers had to find them. that would have been better, or keys scattered.

3. I got nothing and your three seems just to be related to this season since it is an anniversary season. I would say better dialogue, but let's be honest dialogue has always been a bit cheesy, maybe more episodes, maybe thirty or forty, give the ones actually translating and converting the footage more leverage and better freedom to actually do their job. If you limit the number of episodes then they might have to make cuts then we miss something.

Agreed. Even back in the original they had to search for new powers. For example, they had to search for the ninja powers after losing their morphing powers and search for the zeo crystals when they were turned into kids. Kam had to go back in time to gain his powers in Ninja Storm. The samurai rangers had to earn their special discs. I think the earning of abilities was lost due to what seemed like rushed episodes. I am in the process of re, re, re watching all of the series on netflix. Going all the way back to the original, the episodes while 30 minutes long, it seemed longer and it felt like a full story from beginning to end. This season, all the episodes felt like they were only 10 mins long including commercials.
