No Austin St. John/ the original red ranger in the Lengendary War?

Unexceptable, he's the natural inspirational leader of the power rangers, sure Jason David Frank/Tommy Oliver may be there, but he was never the leader that Austin St. John/Jason Lee Scott was.

reply

No doubt they asked him, Austin probably said no.

Or it's possible that Jason David Frank said he wouldn't reprise his role if they asked Austin St. John to appear, considering JDF has some serious beef against ASJ in real life.

Therefore Austin St. John was never asked.

reply

I remember reading on RangerBoard, some time ago now, that Saban was reaching out to the fans to try and track down Austin St John so that he would appear in the Legendary Battle.

Suffice it to say, it didn't happen, and Austin himself has only resumed contact with the fandom in recent months. But at the very least, we got a clear shot of the morphed Red Mighty Morphin' Ranger during the battle, which is better than nothing as far as I'm concerned.

We all have our problems, some just hide it better.

reply

That's nonsense. They don't really have beef, it's all for show. And I know JDF can be a bit a twat, but he wouldn't do something like that.

Austin St. John turned down the offer to appear in Super Megaforce. When he came back into the fandom, he explained in a video why he couldn't appear on the show.

@mochamist

Wow they only offered Austin St. John enough to cover his flights? That is a huge slap in the face without a doubt, considering the fact he should of been offered the same amount that was put onto the table for Jason David Frank. Since they are the top two legendary rangers after all, Disney should be ashamed of themselves.

*Saban. Disney sold the franchise back to them on 2009.

Well Saban has always been cheap, I can recall the main reason Austin St. John left the original series was because Saban offered Jason David Frank more money than the rest of the cast just because he was the Green/White ranger.

The show wasn't the same after that, especially since Austin St. John had way more charisma and leadership skills than Jason David Frank.

reply

Indeed, Saban has always been money first.

Saban =/= Saban Brands. It's an entirely different company ever since Samurai from back then and Saban the person does even less now than he did before with Saban Entertainment.

I used to be indecisive. Now, I'm not so sure.

reply

Actually, he was the leader until TOMMY became the WHITE RANGER.

reply

@IMDB_Vits

But that wasn't the original plan, Austin St. John had actually left the show by the time Jason David Frank took over as the leader (that part was dubbed at the last minute), only because Saban offered JDF more money than the rest of the cast.

It was such a stupid move on Saban's part, especially when Jason was by far the better leader of the Power Rangers.

reply

I knew all of that. My point is that in the show's canon, he stopped being the leader at that point.

reply

I always thought that was a stupid move anyway. Even though the actor wasn't there a few episodes later, they could have waited until The Power Transfer. Zordon could have said Tommy will take over with Jason leaving, as Rocky is new to the team.

Yeah that would have been better IMO, the episodes that Austin Walter and Thuy were still filming showed there and then that Jason was still the leader as he was giving commands and initiating the morphs.
