There's slow-paced and there's willfully boring

and this is definitely in the latter category.
It's OK, but Christ it's dull.

Watch Red Hill instead. Similar thematically, far superior movie.

Red Hill is a great film, certainly more eventful than Mystery Road, but at the same time I would say Mystery Hill is slow paced, not willfully boring. It's all subjective of course. I'd put Mystery Hill in the same category as The Proposition when it comes to deliberate pacing. Liked them both.

Want to watch Red Hill again now.

reply

No way. The Proposition is phenomenal and utterly gripping despite its pace. After the first 40 mins or so, or even sooner, this really lost its way.

Red Hill is fantastic and criminally underrated, but not really comparable imo. Different style and genre.

"oh mummy, oh daddy - lets all play Kabadi!"

I didn't find it dull at all, i found it to be engaging and thank god it had the ending that it did, or it would have been a huge disappointment.

Obviously subtlety is lost on you.

Red Hill is not remotely comparable to Mystery Road, which bests it in every conceivable way - acting, writing, directing, cinematography, etc. Red Hill was a roo turd of a B movie.

reply

Agree they're not comparable, but the rest of your post has to be a joke? Red Hill was stupendous. Power house of a movie.

reply

I would call it deliberate. Sorry, it's not the film that is slow...

reply

you opinion on film is awful. you never need to ever speak it again.

reply

Its a slow burner.

Slow burners tend to be dull.

It's that man again!!
