The Conjuring or this?

Personally I thought the Conjuring was alot scarier. This reminded me of Paranormal Activity

The Conjuring was definitely better, a better plot and great suspense. I've never seen Paranormal Activity funnily enough. Not to say this film wasn't watchable, it just was nothing special.

The Conjuring is the best horror film to come out in the past decade.

no contest. THE CONJURING is a trillion times better than this crapper. i love the cast of QUIET ONES but the script and the over abuse of cheap jump scares made it a horrible movie.

The Conjuring does have the better plot and is scarier BUT this has a more interesting theme IMHO. I liked the theory of the professor and the idea of scientific exploration of paranormal manifestations. That it comes from the psyche and not from "ghosts" or "demons" and can be treated like any psychological illness. I wonder if the professor was right, if it was indoctrination or reincarnation by the cult.

Geez, am I the only one who was not impressed by The Conjuring?

reply

No you are not the only one.

I thought The Conjuring was completely by the numbers, nothing new or clever or really anything special about the story. The Conjuring beats The Quiet Ones for production values (much higher budget) and arguably for directing (mostly the pacing). But that's it.

I only liked the first half of The Conjuring and then actually strongly disliked the second half. This one kept me hooked all the way through with the dread gradually building. I also thought the only decent performers in Conjuring were Farmiga and a couple of the kids. Taylor and the rest of the cast were pretty terrible. Quiet Ones had stronger performances all around, even Harris's scenery chewing professor.

Not that The Conjuring was a masterpiece by any means but I do liked it better than this film.

Break the rules and in a couple of years you will have a hell of a story to tell.
