The mouth scene...spoilers

If Jane was really Evey, what was the thing coming out of her mouth? It couldn't have been Evey escaping if she WAS Evey. But was Evey possessed by the 5000 year old demon?

Ultimately, I'd say that Coupland's theory is FAR closer to the truth than Brian's. Despite fan claims, no evidence of any actual demonic possession is presented in the film aside from Brian's own wild theories; it is also important to note that he believed Evey to be possessing Jane, NOT the demon (a theory that fell to pieces when it is revealed Evey and Jane are the same person). The mouth thing was most likely a manifestation of the negative energy created by Jane's mental illness.

You won't that exact same thing on another quiet ones post. Don't spam

Sorry, sometimes it's tiring writing the same thing with different words on different threads so it's easier to just copy and paste but I'll stop if it bothers you.

just looks sketchy

I'm sorry, are you *beep* kidding? The movie is LOADED with evidence that she's possessed. Unless you actually believe that mentally ill people can affect the world around them with their minds.

With the ending that one scene is kind of put into the unanswerable questions. Unless uou believe that she was possess by a demon which o do then there you go. It was a demon

Edit

I realized it could still be a poltergeist

It really doesn't matter what one chooses to call it. Jane\Evie was possessed by some otherworldly entity.

Yes. Evey was used by the cult to resurrect the demon. So yes the thing coming out of her mouth was the old demon god. Once her body eas destroyed at the end it jumped into the camerman.

Have you ever seen A Haunting in Connecticut? It's ectoplasm. Jane and Evie are one in the same, BUT she's possessed by some entity. Whether it's a ghost or demon is left up to the audience, but she was definitely possessed and not simply mentally ill.

The scene that got me into the film, when something properly 'strange' happened. As a few others have suggested, let's say Evey was possessed by the old demon, and that's what was showing itself.
