Fake reviews... now also fake trivia

As indie horror flicks are a dime a dozen, their producers often write up fake reviews for IMDb to beef up their ratings. But now we have fake trivia as well... bits of self-aggrandising "interesting information" fed in by the producers that are of absolutely no consequence to anyone besides themselves. This happened before with the entry on the horrible NEIGHBOR (2009) and now here. I wish the IMDb would filter such cheap attempts at free publicity.

Yeah, the trivia is entirely fake.

Jack Juneau is but one of a long series of "Juneau" brothers as director John Vincent always uses the name in his films.

The film is set in the fictional town of "Harper's Grove," where many of director John Vincent's films are set.

Yep, this is totally totally fake. I mean it doesn't matter that anyone who watches the other films can say it's true, it's obviously faked.

This was the 2nd Evil Genius Entertainment film for Michael Bugard.

Matt Cash did all the special computer effects.

Yeah. Ten seconds of looking on imdb can totally prove that this is fake, despite the fact that it's proven to be true in the information given.

So, what exactly is fake about it and what free publicity is being gained, again?

LFN's Madeline: There's been entirely too much externalization of emotion lately.

MistyMills should know about fake reviews. Being an actor in the film, surely everything you post defending this POS is genuine and not biased in any way.

What I call "fake trivia" is not necessarily false information. It's just absolutely uninteresting, boring tidbits such as "Joe Schmoe did all the special effects, didya know? Didya? Didya?" that are planted by film production members just to give some free publicity for unknowns craving for any kind of attention.

reply

well to be fair, no one really reads the trivia. embellishing for effect isn't as bad as posting a fake review, wasting everyone's time.

Really? Did you conduct a poll?
