Can someone explain to me...

...what's the deal with the chopper level? Game starts with it and reappears later (in chapter 12 I think). Even someone mentions "has this happened before" or something like that. I mean, what is the purpose of repeating it?
By the way, nice game albeit very sad.

The helicopter scene is meant to be ambiguous. Does Walker and his team survive the crash? That's completely up for you to decide. The rest of the game up until the helicopter scene is a flashback. Walker sees his time in Dubai before he dies...or doesn't die. (Again...open to interpretation.)

The rest of the game after the crash is either wrought with hallucination or you're in Walker's own person hell. But whatever you believe, the first part of the game is supposed to be a flashback. It's a frame story.

Walker's line about having seen it before is to draw the attention to the fact that it's the same helicopter scene from the beginning of the game. It's like in Fight Club when the Tyler asks the Narrator at the beginning of the movie if he had any last words and when we get to that part, the Narrator tells Tyler he still hasn't thought of anything, even though it was the first time Tyler had asked. "Flashback humor."

Demons run when a good man goes to war.

Hmmm... nice explanation, except I don't wanna believe that Walker died at the beginning. Otherwise, whole subsequent story would loose its purpose. If he is dead, what horrors of war can make it up to him. The war only means to those that are alive. Or there wouldn't be phosphorous attack, shoot soldier/thief and so on. Basically, we are forced on journey that shows us dehumanizing and disturbing side of war, unlike in CoD (even if sometimes we see pain and suffering). By the way, the great thing in game is that whatever you do, it'll always have negative outcome.

As you said, game is very open to interpretation(s).
