That's it? Only 6 episodes?

I was actually just getting into the show and they ended it too soon.

It seemed like it had potential, but was kind of slow. I think they were just building up some steam when it ended.

I know, but the channel that was airing it did not order up any more episodes. And talk about a cliffhanger ending: half the cast has a gun pointed at the other half. I'm tempted to tweet Chloe Sevigny,"By any chance did the writer happen to mention to you if your character was still alive five minutes after that last scene??" Grr. I picked it up at the library and naturally assumed that four hours was sufficient to tell their story. I'm neurotic, I like closure.

The UK is different than the US, here seasons are very short, so in America it's average to have 13-22 episode seasons but here in the UK 6 is standard when it comes to drama.

reply

It is the standard, but it's still a shame that they never commissioned a second series.

reply

Yeah it's a shame we're not getting a new series, they would've commissioned one but Chloe Sevigny didn't want to do another series, she hated filming in Manchester.

reply

She'd have gotten over it when her pay cheque came through.

At least they were 6 very good, very memorable episodes.

I think it's a series that in time will prove to have been ahead of its time. The slow pacing and almost alien setting of the rural north may have a bit too off putting for some but it made it unique. Not to mention the central character.

I just recalled how brilliant the child actors were. Wow.

WOW that's two of Chloe Sevigny series that should of gone to at least to a season two. This one and this one:

Those Who Kill (2014)

reply

I have to disagree with that last point. Those Who Kill was pretty awful. It had no clue what kind of show it wanted to be and wasn't very good at creating characters worth caring about. It certainly looked great in the promos and anything with Chloe Sevigny is worth a look but I was so put off by what it turned out to be. I think I gave up after 3 episodes.

On 4 September 2012, the web site TVWise published a rumor that Sky Atlantic had cancelled Hit & Miss. Sky Atlantic later contacted TVWise and stated that Hit & Miss was commissioned as a self-contained drama, implying that renewal was never an option

Also ratings and public reaction were not favorable.
