her penis

eww! did we really have to see that!

reply

Yes, it was by far the simplest way of letting the viewer know straight away that she is a pre-op transsexual without any contrived dialogue.

Stephen King said "Don't tell me if you can show me."
Speech is far too simple, and can be used as a cover up for lack of story or artistic detail. It was a perfect and tasteful way of telling the audience Mia's story so far without anything as crude as "she looks like a woman but she actually has a penis."

That's so ironic considering the way Under the Dome is written.

- We could be men with ven!

It's just a penis.

reply

technically speaking it was a prosthetic. It wasn't real.

It was a nice Penis and a very nice bush to boot! The balls I think were a bit small and could have been larger, it also looked fake, would have rather seen a real Preop transexual play the role so I could have had something to wa$k off to after I watched the show. But it sufficed...

Great Penis for what it was!

You can't see a penis without thinking "ew"?

Grow up.

it's all a part of an agenda

Whose agenda? What kind of evidence do you have?

all of this aberrational stuff [...]

Aberational according to whom?

all of this aberrational stuff that most people couldn't understand and didn't want to be bothered dealing with in the past is just A-okay when it isn't.

In what ways are you bothered by transsexual people?

How can you judge something as "aberrational" if you admit at the same time that you don't understand it?

reply

Hey! What have you got against the native tribespeople of Australia anyway???

reply

It looks faker than the Boogie Nights prosthetic (quite an achievement). Surely they could have cut to a naked skinny dude that resembles Sevigny.

I keep hearing that she was against the prosthetic? My understanding is that she was against the work required to set it in place, not necessarily the showing of the fake organ itself. If anything, undertaking the role has made her more alluring. It would change my opinion of Sevigny if she was against it for the wrong reasons.

reply

No, she wasn't against putting it on, per se. What I got from some interview, it made her cry because she was comfortable being a woman. She couldn't get her head around someone else being so uncomfortable in their own skin.

reply

Have you never seen a penis before? You do know that around half of all people have them, right?

What a lovely way to burn...

reply

I've heard that it took a lot of time to apply the prosthetic and that's the end result? It looked more like a sausage. =\
